I have nothing interesting to blog about myself!!! The week has been uneventful. I'm not sure which direction I'm heading in??? Maybe after speaking to the boss tomorrow things will be clearer. Other news is Herm's car was stolen today. Here are a few old photos of myself, my Mom, Dad and Italian grandfather.

New Car
Well this is the car that was given to me today. Its a rather small but modern car after my 1981 BMW. It has lots of gadgets and switches etc. I will read the manual later today. I have discovered that the radio control is on the wiper lever (as well as a few other functions)
This will make travelling around this area more bearable.(it has an airconditioner too)

PS. I felt a little stupid taking this photo of myself. I used the tripod again.

Thai Supper
Noiy, Bronwyn's husband did a Thai supper tonight. 3 different dishes were cooked and served with rice. All had chilli in them.
Here are more photo's that were taken at Zoë's birthday.
I phoned my future boss today just to see if he remembered that I am going to start work there next week. All on schedule........... I am to report for work at 10am on Monday. (I like him already)
Grand Fathers Days
Plumari has one of the largest collections of wagons. Some of them from the Voortrekker Monument. The first one was a common sight on the roads in the 1930's (I believe) I thought the photo of the Old South African flag would be appropriate. It was taken a few weeks ago at the M.O.T.H. Shrine in Natal.

Hartebees
There are only 2 of these wagon ambulances left, they were used during the Anglo Boer War (1899-1902) Mahatma Ghandi worked as a stretcher bearer at this time. The shape of these horns are heart shaped so the boerties called this creature a Hartebees. I took the photo of it on the game drive on Saturday and found the horns at the Plumari museum.

New Camera
Warthogs
I arrived at Warthogs Game Farm Yesterday. A party of 20 people stayed over at Lynda's invitation for her 50th birthday. We went on a game drive and saw many creatures, the best being Rhino and Hippo. During the drive we passed a Prickly Pear tree.
The evening ended with a few course meal. Today about 100 guests will gather for lunch. Most people have brought cameras..... all shapes and sizes. Gary wins with size. He needs a suitcase to put the lens in. Anyway ...I am learning for my next upgrade.

Janiceburg
I left Durban at 05h15 this morning and got to Jhb just after 11am. Its also hot here. I ate something that I haven't eaten for many years. Here are some photos of the good old "Prickly Pear" or "Desert Fig" They came to S Africa from Mexico about 200 years ago. They grow mostly in the Eastern Cape and there is an annual Prickly Pear festival in Uitenhage. And yes I did get one of those fine hair - like thorns stuck in my finger.

A Young Man
Sunday, January 07, 2007
Thank you Herm, Jenny and Zoë for coming through to Durban from Ballito. Jenny bought me my favourite lunch from Spur - Spare Ribs!!! I shared with Zoë - proof in the photo. We were entertained by noisy bands. Zoë insisted on dancing with this "Stink Bug (ger)" which turned out to be a Skate. Oh and some one else was photographed at a familiar spot.

Krantzkloof Hike
Well the reality is .......... I will be leaving Durban next week to stay in Jo'burg. So I am seeing all I can in good old Durban. Despite the temp reaching the 30 degree mark today I did a hike at Krantzkloof with a back packers club. We walked to Mpiti and Porcupine Falls.
The hike ended at the old Kloof Railway Station which is now a pub. This train was at the station/pub.
