The "paintathon" I started organising turned out to be an "Extreme Makeover" of a school in Pretoria. Money collected will be donated to Francois "Make a Difference Foundation"

The Campbells

I also went to see 'The Campbells' who are popular Afrikaans singers. The crowd (from Roodepoort area) lapped them up!! They were at a local shopping centre.

Union Buildings

I've had an education in "Afrikaans" culture over the last few days. I visited the Union Buildings (look at the fine photo) This building houses the Presidents offices. Built from Sandstone and designed by Sir Herbert Baker. The 2 wings are symbolic of the English and Afrikaans languages. It was completed in 1913. Nelson Mandela was inaugurated as president here on 10 May 1994.

My weekend

I visited the transport museum this weekend. The Black Rolls Royce was the official Mayors vehicle from 1957 - 1975. I also went for a drive around Magaliesburg to Hartebeespoort Dam. The cable car has closed down. I bought some cheese at the cheese factory, saw Jenny's old school etc. I also visited Neville, played a game of action cricket for the Panache team and won. I didn't take photo's at Lusito Land. The Jhb "Mini Town" needs a face lift.

Military Museum

There was an astronomy meeting at the Military Museum this morning so I went to see what it was all about. I looked at all the old planes, tanks guns etc. Fortunes are spent on armaments. Think if all soldiers were trained as doctors, nurses, builders, plumbers etc. We would have a wealthy and prosperous nation. I have no attraction to the military anymore. I also went to the Zoo Lake. Next time I'll take some bread for the ducks.
